Job Description

Salary: £65,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require a minimum of a BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related field, along with other professional management training.
  • We require extensive experience of at least 5 years in at least 3 of the following: Azure SQL Server 2022, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, ETL/ELT workflows, and Synapse.
  • We require architectural experience in Azure data warehousing; experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB or MongoDB is an advantage.
  • We require advanced SQL CI/CD automation experience using Azure DevOps for deployments.
  • We require proficiency in GIT for repository management, branching strategies, and collaboration.
  • We require strong Python scripting skills for data automation, orchestration, and pipeline optimisation.
  • We require working knowledge of C# for maintaining and modifying legacy Windows applications.
  • We require experience with Power BI, QuickSight, or similar analytics tools.
  • We require adherence to ETL and data management best practices, including incremental loads, error handling, and metadata logging.
  • We require knowledge of data protection regulations and security protocols, including GDPR, CCPA, encryption, and RBAC.
  • We require Agile/SCRUM experience, including collaboration with offshore teams.
  • We require the ability to migrate legacy systems to modern cloud architectures.
  • We require the ability to anticipate issues, recommend pragmatic solutions, and write clean, reusable code.
  • We require strong stakeholder communication skills, from engineers to non-technical leaders.
  • We require the ability to manage tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have an excellent understanding of Entity-Relationship and multidimensional data modelling, including star and snowflake schemas, as well as the data warehouse lifecycle and SQL Server.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have experience creating master and child packages, package configurations, logging, and using variables and expressions in packages.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have experience working with offshore teams.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have experience writing technical specifications for work to be performed by other developers.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have development experience in C# with good software methodology and practices.
  • We consider it ideal, though not essential, to have experience with Informatica, Talend, Azure SQL Server, or NoSQL databases including MongoDB and DynamoDB.
Responsibilities:
  • We will develop and maintain our existing cloud data platform.
  • We will analyse proposed information requests and collaborate with business units to drive enterprise reporting.
  • We will write scripts for importing and exporting data into enterprise applications while maintaining data integrity.
  • We will use enterprise report writing tools to extract data and share information for automated reporting in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • We will select the best technology solutions for business problems.
  • We will ensure pristine data quality in all delivered solutions.
  • We will provide solid documentation on all design and coding projects.
  • We will maintain confidentiality of information being processed, stored, or accessed by end users on the network.
  • We will ensure that the data architecture is scalable and maintainable.
  • We will design, implement, and continuously expand data acquisition through extraction, transformation, and loading activities.
  • We will build, debug, monitor, and troubleshoot databases and ETL processes to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and integrity.
  • We will design, develop, and maintain data stores such as data warehouses, data marts, and related information repositories to support reporting, analytics, and integrations.
  • We will translate business needs into technical specifications for BI.
  • We will design, implement, monitor, and maintain BI environments and database servers to meet usage and performance demands.
  • We will establish performance and reliability metrics for data stores, reports, dashboards, and analytics tools.
  • We will design, implement, and tune relational queries, stored procedures, and table-valued functions for optimal performance and reliability.
  • We will create and maintain supporting documentation, including data dictionaries, data flows, and database schemas.
  • We will collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts on new database applications, modules, and enhancements.
  • We will assist with the design and development of data schemas and definitions to support Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing requirements.
  • We will follow and maintain data security policies and practices.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data & BI Team at our Head Office in Oxford. This role supports our digital transformation across the business and is based in Oxford with three days in the office and two days working remotely. The role offers a basic salary of £60,000 to £65,000 plus excellent benefits.
