Research Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £41,000 - 49,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience in one or more of the following: Linux systems administration, High Performance Computing (HPC), enterprise storage platforms, network administration, GPU-enabled environments, research or scientific computing, infrastructure automation and DevOps practices
• Comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders and translating technical concepts into practical solutions
• Desirable: experience in research, scientific or higher education environments
• Desirable: experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools
• Desirable: experience with DevOps methodologies
• Desirable: experience with AI and machine learning infrastructure

Responsibilities:

• Support and administer Linux-based research computing platforms
• Manage HPC, AI and data-intensive infrastructure
• Maintain large-scale storage environments
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking and software issues
• Work closely with researchers to develop technical solutions
• Produce technical documentation and user guidance
• Support the delivery of user training and workshops
• Contribute to platform improvements and automation initiatives
