Principal Statistician - Early Phase

Salary: £55,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:

• Graduate degree in biostatistics or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in clinical trials, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with the ability to lead multiple projects and study programs.
• Proficiency in R programming.
• Ability to apply extensive knowledge of statistical design, analysis, relevant regulatory guidelines, and programming techniques used in clinical research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• PhD/MS in statistics or a related discipline with 6 to 8 years of pharmaceutical experience.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical concepts and techniques.
• Ability to perform advanced statistical analyses using SAS or R.
• Early phase study experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a statistical department resource, mentor biostatisticians, and oversee or develop training plans and materials for Biostatistics associates.
• Conduct training sessions and support the development of new hires and existing personnel.
• Direct the activities of other biostatistics personnel on assigned projects to ensure timely, high-quality work.
• Provide independent review of project work produced by other biostatisticians.
• Support all statistical tasks across the project lifecycle, from protocol to CSR.
• Prepare or oversee Statistical Analysis Plans, including mock-up displays for tables, listings, and figures.
• Collaborate with the sponsor as required.
• Serve as Lead Biostatistician for protocol statistics, randomization schedules, and clinical study report input, when needed.
• Create or review programming specifications for analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures.
• Review SAS/R annotated CRFs, database design, and study documentation to ensure protocol criteria are met and data capture supports the planned analysis.
• Implement company objectives and create alternative solutions for business and operational challenges.
• Act as the biostatistics representative on project teams and interface with other functional representatives.
• Prepare for internal meetings, contribute ideas, and show respect for others opinions.
• Conduct and participate in verification and quality control of project deliverables.
• Lead complex or multiple projects, including submissions and integrated analyses, as needed.
• Attend regulatory agency meetings or respond to questions to support statistical analysis results on behalf of the sponsor.
• Manage scheduling and time constraints across multiple projects and communicate timeline issues proactively.
• Monitor study progress against milestones and ensure project deliverables meet study timelines.
• Identify out-of-scope tasks and escalate to management.
• Provide statistical programming support as needed.
• Participate in DSMB and/or DMC activities, including charter development and serving as an independent non-voting or voting biostatistician.
• Follow applicable SOPs, work instructions, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain well-organized, complete, up-to-date project documentation and QC records to ensure inspection readiness.
• Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, budgets, and sponsor bid defense meetings.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
