Power BI Developer - Cambridge

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have proven experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• We have strong working knowledge of SQL and data structures.
• We have experience using Python for data analysis, transformation, or automation.
• We have experience translating business requirements into reporting solutions.
• We can work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We have experience migrating legacy reporting systems, such as Access to Power BI, which is desirable.
• We have experience working with evolving or partially built data environments, which is desirable.
• We are located within commutable distance of Cambridge and can work onsite 3 days per week.
• We are able to work on an initial 3–6 month contract basis.

Responsibilities:

• We design, build, and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
• We transition existing reports from Access databases to Power BI, maintaining like-for-like functionality while improving where possible.
• We collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather reporting needs.
• We work alongside an internal SQL specialist to leverage existing datasets effectively.
• We use Python for data manipulation, transformation, or automation where beneficial.
• We deliver clear, user-friendly reporting outputs to the business.
• We provide documentation and knowledge transfer where required.
• We support reporting and business intelligence improvements across our systems.
• We contribute to project-focused build and migration work efficiently and independently.

We are an established organisation operating across multiple business units, and we are seeking a Contract Power BI Developer to support reporting and business intelligence improvements across our systems. This is an initial 3–6 month contract with the potential for extension or future project-based work, offering a rate of £300–£400 per day. The role is based in Cambridge and requires onsite presence three days per week, so candidates must be within commutable distance. We work with a mix of Power BI, SQL databases, and Python, and this role will be focused on migrating legacy Access-based reporting into Power BI while developing new solutions where needed.
