Lead Software Engineer - Go / Python

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming languages, ideally including Go, Python, React, or Java
• Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or other automation and continuous delivery methods
• Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems
• Demonstrated experience designing and scaling agentic AI-enabled development patterns across teams and functions, including governance for human-in-the-loop validation, traceability, auditability, and secure handling of sensitive inputs and outputs
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations at scale, including security and resiliency implications, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance
• Practical cloud-native experience
• Experience in infrastructure architecture designs
• Experience in AWS EKS and GCP GKE ecosystems is a plus
• Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
• Knowledge of multiple cloud platforms
• Proficiency in database technology such as Oracle, MS SQL, or Cockroach

Responsibilities:

• Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Set strategy and operating standards for agentic AI-enabled engineering across a portfolio using enterprise-authorized tools to improve delivery speed, reliability, and code quality
• Define guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams and functions
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within existing systems and information architecture
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
