Head of Internal Systems Development

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading or managing software engineering teams.
• Recent hands-on development experience with C# / .NET.
• Experience with modern cloud technologies, ideally Azure.
• Understanding of software architecture, APIs and scalable systems.
• Experience delivering projects within Agile environments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices are desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and support a team of software engineers, encouraging best practice and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to code quality, architectural decisions, integrations, technical reviews and solution design.
• Provide technical leadership across applications, platforms and engineering practices.
• Support delivery of projects from concept through to implementation, managing priorities, risks and dependencies.
• Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into effective solutions.
• Improve development processes, tooling and engineering standards.
• Champion Agile ways of working and support effective team collaboration.

We are an ambitious and successful SaaS tech business based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and this is a hybrid/remote role with 1-2 days a week onsite in the Portsmouth/Fareham area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical leader who enjoys balancing people leadership with hands-on engineering and making a positive impact on people, process and delivery. We are working with a 6-person engineering team made up of 3 developers and 3 support engineers, and the role offers the chance to shape priorities, support delivery and influence technical direction across the business.
