Embedded Linux Engineer

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Broad Linux experience, including uBoot, the Linux kernel, BSP, and embedded Linux distributions such as Yocto or Debian
• Knowledge of open source development methodologies and relevant open source communities
• Knowledge of ARM processor-based embedded systems
• Experience with system image creation tooling such as debos and wic, as well as OTA technologies
• Experience with Debian system creation is a strong plus
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a Linux-based environment
• Experience developing software for embedded Linux systems
• Experience with modern CI tooling such as GitHub and GitLab
• Good English language skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fully distributed online environment
• Familiarity with one or more market verticals is a plus
• Experience with the Rust programming language is a plus
• Experience setting up secure or trusted boot chains is a plus
• Experience creating A/B boot systems or other atomic upgrade schemes is a plus
• Experience with base hardware bring-up of new ARM devices is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Provide consulting services to our customers in Embedded Linux, including bootloaders, the Linux kernel, and Linux distros
• Develop, integrate, debug, and test software for different types of products and customers
• Contribute publicly to open source projects to maintain technical leadership
• Analyse client problems and design solutions using open source technologies and our technical expertise
• Define and scope client projects in collaboration with our delivery team
• Build working knowledge of customer products, applications, technical and business strengths, and target markets when needed
• Discuss Linux core system technologies with clients and represent us at conferences and trade shows
• Understand client needs while balancing time constraints, available technologies, resources, and open source best practices
