Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator are a plus.
• SC clearance is required.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain database management systems software.
• Monitor database performance and ensure efficient operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery capabilities.
• Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Control access permissions and privileges for database users.
• Conduct security audits and implement necessary changes to enhance security.
• Design, develop, and implement databases according to organizational requirements.
• Optimize database structures and queries for maximum performance.
• Define and enforce data standards and guidelines.
• Estimate future database capacity requirements and plan for expansion.
• Recommend hardware and software upgrades to support growing database needs.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and guidelines.
• Generate reports on database usage, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database usage in applications.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices.

More:

We are hiring a Database Administrator for a 6-month contract based in Telford, with two days on site per week. We offer pay of up to £460 per day via umbrella. You will work with our IT teams and other departments to help maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing database systems that support our organizations needs.
