Data Governance Manager

Salary: £60,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experienced data governance background in the public sector is essential
• Experience with data governance frameworks and stewardship programmes
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, data quality, metadata, and compliance
• Skills in developing and delivering training programmes
• Experience managing governance projects, coordinating multiple workstreams, and supporting organisational change
• Strong knowledge of data ethics, with proven experience creating and implementing policies, processes, training, and impact assessments to support understanding of data ethics risks

Responsibilities:

• Embed effective data ownership and stewardship
• Drive accountability for data management across the data lifecycle
• Enable delivery of core data capabilities that make up the DGF
• Connect enterprise-wide governance with spoke-level implementation
• Create a data ethics policy, process, and impact assessment

We are recruiting for a Data Governance Manager on a fixed-term contract through March 2027. This is a public sector workstream with a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office, based in Central Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, or Newcastle.
