Business Architect (TOM)

Salary: £39,000 - 79,000 per year

Requirements:

• Extensive experience delivering large-scale digital transformation operating models, ideally within a complex government or public sector environment.
• Proficiency in prototyping and co-design techniques, with a focus on business outcomes over rigid adherence to specific architectural frameworks.
• Proven ability to engage senior, non-technical stakeholders and communicate clearly without relying on technical jargon.
• Ability to enter a high-ambiguity environment, extract information rapidly, and convert it into a structured plan within weeks, not months.
• Strong resilience and agility, with the ability to stay focused on the business problem in a chaotic or unclear environment.

Responsibilities:

• Rapidly map the current as-is operational landscape, identifying friction points, process bottlenecks, and architectural debt.
• Translate complex, technical, and fragmented system and process requirements into simple visual artifacts that help non-technical senior leaders make informed decisions.
• Co-design the future-state target operating model, iterating rapidly through prototypes to ensure it is viable and aligned with strategic objectives.
• Define and implement a RAG status framework that provides clear visibility into operational readiness and transformation progress for executive boards.
• Act as a bridge between technical delivery teams and senior business owners, influencing stakeholders to build consensus and prioritize delivery.

We are hiring a Business Architect for a 6-month fixed-term contract to join a public sector transformation programme. The role offers majority remote working with a maximum of 1-2 days per month on-site, with site options available across the UK. This is a lead architecture role focused on shaping a complex digital and organisational transformation, designing the future-state target operating model, and helping senior stakeholders align on delivery priorities and progress.
