Build and Release Manager

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience supporting IT projects that include both application development and operational/support elements
• Working knowledge of project management practices, with a recognised qualification such as PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent hands-on delivery experience
• Familiarity with common software delivery lifecycles, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and engage confidently with business and senior stakeholders
• Well-organised and detail-focused, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, priorities, and deadlines concurrently
• Advantageous experience working within an IT portfolio, PMO, or central delivery function
• Exposure to portfolio or project management tools such as Planview, Jira, Azure DevOps, or MS Project
• Previous coordination experience across multiple teams or workstreams
• Understanding of resource planning, release coordination, or change management processes
• Experience supporting UAT, release planning, or post-release activities
• Ability to quickly adapt to new tools, processes, and delivery models
• Confidence working in fast-paced or changing environments
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities:

• Partner with business stakeholders to analyse requirements and manage priorities
• Act as the primary liaison between Portfolio Management, business stakeholders, and IT delivery teams
• Own and maintain the central portfolio backlog and support prioritisation decisions
• Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning
• Provide regular portfolio and operational reporting
• Align teams, manage dependencies, and support PMO governance activities
• Administer portfolio tooling such as Planview, including project initiation, resourcing, tracking, and closure
• Plan and coordinate application releases with development teams, including scheduling, UAT, change management, and rollout support
• Provide early life support activities following releases
