Broadband Test Engineer

Salary: £78,000 - 91,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience troubleshooting Home Hubs, gateways or broadband CPE
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and RF fundamentals
• Experience analysing packet captures
• Experience working in Linux environments
• Python scripting experience
• Experience with FTTP and broadband technologies
• Knowledge of IPv4 / IPv6
• Experience with core dump and crash analysis
• Strong technical log analysis skills
• Experience carrying out root cause investigation

Responsibilities:

• Investigate complex customer-impacting technical issues
• Reproduce faults within laboratory environments
• Analyse logs, telemetry and packet captures
• Work with firmware development teams and suppliers
• Produce defect reports and technical evidence
• Validate fixes before live deployment
• Drive issues through to root cause resolution

We are supporting a leading UK telecommunications organisation undergoing significant investment across our customer connectivity platform. We are looking for an experienced Broadband Test Engineer to join a specialist engineering team responsible for investigating and resolving complex issues across Home Hubs, Wi-Fi platforms and broadband customer equipment. This is a highly technical role focused on fault investigation, root cause analysis and defect resolution rather than traditional support. The role is based in Ipswich with 3 days onsite, offered as a £350 per day 6-month contract, with long-term programme potential and exposure to large-scale broadband platforms. The technical environment includes Home Hubs, broadband CPE, Digital Voice, TR-069 / TR-369, Linux, Python, Git, GitLab, Jira and Wireshark.
