Application Support Specialist

Salary: £40,000 - 45,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience in an application support, systems support, or similar technical role
• Strong, hands-on Linux experience, including command-line use, process management, and troubleshooting system-level issues
• Solid Python scripting skills, with the ability to write, read, and maintain scripts for automation and problem resolution
• Experience supporting data platforms, data pipelines, or similar data-focused technical environments is highly desirable
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, or similar
• Experience with SQL and database troubleshooting is advantageous
• A methodical, analytical approach to problem solving with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Based within commuting distance of Aylesbury or Milton Keynes for hybrid working requirements

Responsibilities:

• Provide application support for a leading data platform, taking ownership of incidents, problems, and service requests through to resolution
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues across Linux-based environments, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes
• Write, maintain, and optimise Python scripts to automate processes, improve system performance, and support operational efficiency
• Monitor platform health and performance, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact the business
• Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to manage releases, deployments, and configuration changes
• Produce clear and accurate technical documentation, including runbooks, incident reports, and knowledge base articles
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to manage and resolve technical issues effectively
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes, tools, and practices
