Advanced Solutions Architect
Job Description
Salary: £34,000 - 74,000 per year
Requirements:- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or demonstrably equivalent experience
- 7+ years in software engineering, including at least 3 years in an explicit architecture role
- Strong Java/Spring Boot background with demonstrable experience designing cloud-native microservices at scale
- Proven experience designing and operating event-driven systems using Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms
- Hands-on exposure to API gateway technologies and federated API management across multiple consumer profiles
- Experience operating in a regulated or compliance-driven environment such as gaming, fintech, or payments
- Demonstrable experience working within or contributing to a governance process such as ARB, design authority, or technical steering
- Comfortable producing architecture artefacts independently, including C4 diagrams, ADRs, threat models, and NFR matrices
- Professional certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP are valued
- Own and produce Architectural Decision Records for significant design decisions
- Participate actively in the Architecture Review Board, reviewing solution designs across platform portfolios
- Define and enforce architecture patterns, integration contracts, and non-functional requirements across the platform and adjacent systems
- Contribute to architecture governance artefacts such as the Tech Atlas and Asset Registry
- Lead threat modelling exercises using structured approaches and translate outcomes into actionable security requirements
- Produce high-quality solution designs from C4 context and container diagrams through to component and sequence-level detail
- Design and evolve RESTful and event-driven APIs using OpenAPI specifications
- Architect integrations with third-party systems including payment providers, identity services, regulatory reporting endpoints, and operator platforms
- Provide technical governance over CI/CD pipeline design, environment architecture, and deployment strategies
- Develop hands-on prototypes and proof-of-concepts when needed to de-risk architectural decisions
- Define and champion non-functional standards, including performance, resilience, observability, and security controls
- Lead or contribute to performance and load testing design and interpret results in the context of SLAs and growth targets
- Establish and evolve coding and integration standards across Java/Spring services
- Drive adoption of structured security practices through Security Champions and DevSecOps tooling integration
- Provide technical mentorship to associate, mid-level, and senior engineers
- Translate complex technical positions into clear communication for delivery leads, product managers, and executive stakeholders
- Drive alignment across teams on shared concerns such as API strategy, data platforms, observability, and shared services
