Lead Agentic AI Architect

Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or platform leadership
• 8+ years of experience delivering AI/ML platforms into production
• Proven experience architecting and deploying Agentic AI, LLM, and Generative AI solutions at enterprise scale
• Strong experience with RAG and LLM application architectures
• Experience in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated environment
• Experience leading large engineering teams and complex technology transformations
• Track record of taking AI platforms from strategy and architecture through to production and operationalisation
• Strong executive stakeholder engagement and ability to translate AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes
• Relevant technical experience across Agentic AI and GenAI, multi-agent systems, prompt engineering, Responsible AI, and AI evaluation
• Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGen
• Experience with cloud AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, or hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Engineering and platform skills in languages and tools such as Python, Java, Scala, TypeScript, SQL, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Bicep, CI/CD, or infrastructure as code
• Experience with LLMOps, MLOps, model governance, AI security and guardrails, observability, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks
• Relevant qualifications may include a masters degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related discipline; AWS Solutions Architect Professional; AWS AI/ML Specialty; Microsoft Azure AI Engineer; Google Professional ML Engineer; or executive AI or Machine Learning qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Own the architecture for enterprise AI capabilities, including Agentic AI platforms, assistants, copilots, and autonomous workflows
• Architect multi-agent systems incorporating reasoning, planning, memory, orchestration, and tool integration
• Design production-grade LLM and RAG architectures
• Shape intelligent search, knowledge assistants, workflow automation, and decision-support systems
• Lead enterprise LLMOps, MLOps, observability, and AI governance
• Define AI security, guardrails, evaluation, and Responsible AI approaches
• Develop cloud AI platform and hybrid or multi-cloud architectures
• Provide technical leadership across architects, engineers, and data scientists
• Work with senior stakeholders to shape AI strategy, roadmaps, investment priorities, and transformation programmes

Were seeking a Lead Agentic AI Architect on behalf of a leading digital transformation consultancy, for a major enterprise AI transformation programme with a leading UK bank. This is a senior opportunity to define architecture, engineering standards, and delivery for next-generation Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions in a complex, highly regulated environment, taking initiatives from concept and roadmap through to secure, scalable production. The role is based in London, Birmingham, or Sheffield, whichever is closest, with three days per week on site. It is a six-month rolling contract, paying £710 per day inside IR35.
