Junior Test Engineer - Networking

Salary: £25,000 - 32,000 per year

Requirements:

• Degree, HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical qualification in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or another relevant STEM discipline.
• Good foundation in networking, including TCP/IP, IP addressing and subnetting, switching and routing, VLANs, DHCP and DNS, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows.
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a methodical approach, curiosity about technology, and willingness to investigate and learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
• Beneficial but not essential: Python or another scripting language, Wireshark or packet analysis tools, software or systems testing experience, CCNA, Network+ or similar certification, or experience with cyber security or network security technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Test networking products, software, and integrated systems.
• Carry out functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Work with test plans and structured test procedures.
• Record test results and document defects.
• Investigate technical issues and help identify their causes.
• Work with software and hardware engineers to resolve problems.
• Support product validation and evaluation activities.
• Help set up and maintain test environments.
• Build practical knowledge of IP networking and network security.
• Develop knowledge of testing, troubleshooting, and systems integration.
