API Software Engineer

Salary: £55,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Background in software engineering and solution design, with experience delivering scalable, reliable applications throughout the software development lifecycle
• Collaborative team player who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality software in an Agile environment
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Maven, DB2, and GitLab, delivering enterprise-grade applications from design through deployment
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs in line with established engineering standards and best practices
• Good understanding of microservices architecture, scalability, resiliency, caching, and performance optimisation
• Experience with Java performance tuning and troubleshooting, including root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices, with experience in Agile delivery, automation, production support, and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Grafana

Responsibilities:

• Engineer and maintain innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure, and robust solutions
• Work within a feature team to engineer software, scripts, and tools, liaising with engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform
• Produce complex and critical software rapidly and to a high standard, adding value to the business
• Work in permanent teams responsible for the full software lifecycle, from initial development through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
• Collaborate to optimise our software engineering capability
• Design, produce, test, and implement software solutions
• Work across the lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through coding, testing, deployment, and operations
