Technical Author

Salary: £52,000 - 52,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, or in a similar technical documentation role
• Ability to understand technical concepts and work with engineers and technical specialists to gather information for accurate documentation
• Relevant experience in areas such as cloud and on-premises environments, Azure, IT infrastructure and operations, SaaS and client-server applications, technical and user-focused documentation, Confluence, Markdown, Git/GitHub, Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, or SharePoint Online
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with people at different organisational levels, from technical specialists to senior stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, ask effective questions, and identify opportunities to improve documentation or processes

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain technical documentation, system guides, processes, specifications, and operational documentation
• Work with technical teams and subject matter experts to understand complex systems and processes
• Translate technical information into clear, concise, accessible content for different audiences
• Establish and maintain documentation standards, style guidelines, and best practices
• Review and improve existing documentation using feedback, support tickets, and stakeholder interviews
• Manage documentation through version control and keep content aligned with system and software changes
• Review, edit, and proofread documentation to maintain a consistently high standard
• Identify opportunities to improve how technical documentation is created, managed, and accessed
• Work with stakeholders across technical teams, operations, senior management, and end users
