Senior Software Cybersecurity Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in security or application engineering and a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading process change, mentoring on secure-by-design principles, and driving continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of cloud and container security, including AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and container image vulnerability lifecycles.
• Deep understanding of threat modeling methods such as STRIDE and PASTA, IAM, cryptography, web and network protocols (HTTP, REST, TLS, TCP/IP), and integrating SCA, SAST, and DAST tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on software development experience, specifically in Go and C#.
• Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, and OWASP standards and frameworks, including ASVS and Testing Guides.
• Preferred: Advanced experience in vulnerability research, exploit R&D, manual penetration testing across cloud, web, embedded, or mobile environments, SIEM and logging platforms such as Splunk and OSQuery, AI/ML security, or distributed systems.
• Preferred: A masters degree and cloud or security certifications such as CCSP, CCAK, AWS Security Specialty, OSCP, CISSP, or SANS/GIAC certifications.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical groups, composure under pressure, and experience in high-growth SaaS environments are desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze software designs and implementations, recommend secure code improvements, identify and triage security vulnerabilities, promote secure-by-design practices, and lead SDLC security improvements.
• Perform threat modeling, risk assessments, audits, and architecture reviews, with a focus on cloud and container environments.
• Manage key management and IAM controls.
• Partner with engineering teams to define security requirements aligned with compliance standards and industry best practices.
• Conduct security code reviews and serve as a technical subject matter expert for engineering and compliance teams.
• Deploy and manage automated security tools, including SCA/SBOM, SAST, DAST, and secret scanning, within CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct manual network and application testing, write custom scripts and unit tests, and recommend improvements to security tools, processes, and secure coding standards.
• Lead vulnerability management focused on Kubernetes and container images; triage, validate, and prioritize scan findings, including by writing proofs of concept.
• Communicate security issues to stakeholders and manage remediation throughout the SDLC.
• Support product security incident response, including root cause analysis, mitigation strategies, and technical runbooks.
• Apply detection engineering principles, set baseline application security parameters, and maintain IDS/IPS rules.
• Conduct post-incident analysis, capture lessons learned, and refine response strategies.
• Monitor emerging threats, integrate new protections proactively, and ensure compliance with standards such as OWASP and NIST.
