Software Engineer

Salary: £59,000 - 76,000 per year

Requirements:

• 3+ years of Python experience
• Proficiency with API frameworks such as FastAPI or Django
• Experience modelling databases with Python, ideally using SQLAlchemy
• Experience developing user interfaces with modern frameworks such as Vue
• Desire to work in a fast-paced team with live operational assets
• Ability to write clean, tested code
• Positive, open, and honest approach to technical and interpersonal challenges
• Ability to communicate complex issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Nice to have: experience in energy or power trading
• Nice to have: experience with Vue, AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions, or Kubernetes
• Nice to have: experience with real-time streaming data management, transformation, and orchestration
• Nice to have: experience with microservice architectures, including zero-downtime deployments and scalability

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain applications, including existing code and new applications
• Build and evolve microservice APIs and user interfaces for asset dispatch and monitoring, trade management and exposure, reporting and settlements, market interfaces, forecasting, and optimization
• Collaborate with traders, data scientists, operations analysts, and software engineers to understand needs and define solutions
• Navigate energy markets and third-party tools to help design robust, scalable solutions
• Design, build, release, and maintain software in accordance with our SDLC process
• Write clean, tested code and clear documentation, including troubleshooting runbooks
• Check that deployments on our Kubernetes cluster are successful and work as expected
• Participate in peer reviews to support the quality of our software
• Take an equal share in the technology on-call rota and provide first-line software support
• Use runbooks to support Trading and Operations with live troubleshooting, escalating issues as required
