Software Testing Engineer

Requirements:- Proven experience as a Software Test Engineer, Systems Test Engineer or Integration Test Engineer.
- Strong understanding of system integration testing within complex environments.
- Experience writing test cases, test specifications and test scripts.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Experience working within structured engineering or technical project environments.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet demanding project deadlines.
- Experience within rail, telecommunications, transport or other engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of requirements management and ALM tools, particularly DOORS.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
- Experience supporting customer-facing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Deliver test engineering activities to agreed time, cost and quality targets.
- Design, develop and execute test procedures for system integration testing.
- Create and maintain test cases, test specifications and test scripts.
- Investigate defects and collaborate with development teams to identify root causes.
- Plan, coordinate and manage testing activities across project workstreams.
- Produce accurate estimates for testing activities and deliverables.
- Monitor and communicate test progress, metrics, results and risks.
- Support factory and customer acceptance testing phases.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering assurance processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice testing methodologies.
- Maintain technical expertise through ongoing professional development.

We are supporting a clients pioneering engineering team developing cutting-edge communications technology for the rail industry. The role is based in Poole, with working hours Monday to Friday between 08:30am and 5pm, and offers an initial 4-month contract with potential for extension. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects involving GSM-R, LTE, GPS connectivity and next-generation rail communication systems based on 4G and 5G technologies, within a highly respected engineering environment where innovation, collaboration and technical excellence meet. The daily rate is £350.00 to £450.00 depending on experience, and the role is inside IR35.
