Requirements:

Responsibilities:

• Design robust, production-grade AI and ML systems
• Drive adoption of Agentic AI across multiple engineering teams
• Define reusable engineering standards, architectures and implementation patterns
• Design and evolve production RAG and retrieval architectures
• Establish effective LangGraph/LangChain patterns for agentic applications
• Improve AI evaluation, testing, observability and production monitoring
• Develop guardrails, controls and approaches to hallucination and model risk
• Support the move towards increasingly high-risk and high-complexity AI/ML use cases
• Establish best practice across MLOps, CI/CD and deployment
• Influence senior engineers and technical stakeholders without direct line management
• Help engineering teams use AI-assisted development tools effectively within their workflows

We are a global technology-driven organisation scaling advanced AI capability across our UK engineering function. We have already invested heavily in enterprise AI platforms and Agentic AI frameworks, and we are now focused on driving adoption across engineering teams, establishing common engineering patterns, and enabling increasingly complex AI and ML solutions to operate safely and reliably in production. This is a senior hands-on Staff Engineer contract role based in London with 3 days per week on-site, an initial 6-month term, and a long-term programme roadmap. The contract is inside IR35 and offers a day rate of £800–1,200 inclusive. We are also actively adopting AI-assisted development tooling, including Claude, and are especially interested in engineers who are already using AI to improve their own software engineering workflows.
