Software Engineering Lead

Salary: £40,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven track record in software engineering, designing, developing and deploying backend applications, while driving engineering and cultural change across teams and delivery processes.
• Strong capability in designing individual microservices as well as the broader microservice architecture.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams to deliver production changes at high cadence.
• Solid experience in CI/CD best practice, tooling and implementation.
• Hands-on delivery of RESTful APIs into production environments.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including schema design and day-to-day database development.

Responsibilities:

• Modernise and scale SmartServe, our microservices suite that powers customer outreach, information capture and authorisations.
• Expand the platform to support new customer types, journeys and capabilities.
• Deliver production code and support the architecture and design of the system aligned to a microservice structure.
• Drive faster code delivery across the wider team and lead by example through the volume and reliability of change delivered.
• Engage with business and engineering leadership to understand requirements and communicate them across the wider team.
• Bring ideas and solutions to the table based on wider requirements.
• Lead and drive the engineering culture expected across our teams.
• Collaborate with a global team across regional boundaries.
• Proactively remove impediments, identify risks and communicate issues to program management.
• Identify process inefficiencies and find innovative, programmatic ways to eliminate them.
