Network Engineer NSX
Job Description
Salary: £76,000 - 94,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong experience in designing, configuring, and supporting network virtualisation platforms such as NSX or similar
- Ability to balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities
- Confidence to take ownership of solutions and represent networking in technical discussions
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, the OSI model, and routing/switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, and VLANs
- Experience with network virtualisation (NSX-T), including design, configuration, and support of NSX-based networking environments
- Experience with software-defined networking, including logical switching, routing, and micro-segmentation
- Experience integrating NSX networking within virtualised and platform environments such as VCF
- Hands-on experience with Cisco or equivalent multi-vendor network equipment
- Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and segmentation
- Familiarity with virtualisation and cloud networking concepts
- Experience with network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools
- Understanding of ITIL and service management frameworks
- Experience delivering within secure, enterprise, or defence environments
- VMware NSX-T deep expertise and certification, or equivalent experience, is desirable
- Experience with VCF networking integration, including vSphere, vSAN, and Aria Suite, is desirable
- Knowledge of overlay and underlay network design concepts is desirable
- Experience automating network configuration using Ansible, Terraform, or APIs is desirable
- Experience integrating with security tooling such as SIEM or SOC platforms is desirable
- Experience with cloud networking, including AWS, Azure, and hybrid connectivity, is desirable
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments is desirable
- A good attitude and willingness to learn
- Design, configure, and support network virtualisation solutions such as VMware NSX within secure and enterprise environments
- Take ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution, and reporting
- Develop and review high- and low-level network designs and technical documentation
- Integrate and test network components, ensuring compliance with performance and security requirements
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical leadership to Network Engineers and Technicians
- Collaborate with stakeholders, project teams, and customers to ensure solutions meet requirements
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards and governance
