Junior Software Engineer (Data Products)
Job Description
Salary: £36,500 - 36,500 per year
Requirements:- We are looking for 2–3 years of experience, including internships or intensive projects, in any programming language development.
- We need academic or professional exposure to SQL, with comfort writing queries and understanding basic schema design.
- We are looking for familiarity with Git and a basic understanding of CI/CD concepts.
- We value a proactive approach to debugging and genuine curiosity about how data flows through a system.
- We need a basic understanding of REST APIs and how microservices communicate.
- We require a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Nice to have: basic knowledge of Python or Shell for scripting or data automation.
- Nice to have: any experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure, with cloud certifications as a plus.
- Nice to have: familiarity with Docker or the concept of containerized applications.
- Nice to have: exposure to data processing tools like Airflow, Kafka, or Spark.
- Nice to have: a desire to learn infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Terragrunt.
- Nice to have: interest in Open Banking and the FinTech landscape.
- We support the design and maintenance of scalable data ingestion and processing systems using ETL/ELT methodologies.
- We learn to deploy and maintain software using GCP services such as Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
- We partner with BI, infrastructure, and product teams to understand data requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- We help build and document APIs that deliver a seamless data experience for internal and external stakeholders.
- We work with SQL and NoSQL databases, helping to optimize schemas and write efficient queries to support high-volume transactions.
- We contribute to a reliable billing architecture within an event-driven environment.
- We participate in testing, monitoring, and logging practices to ensure system resilience.
- We engage in code reviews and agile ceremonies to rapidly level up our technical skills and product knowledge.
