Systems Engineer - Data Engineering

Salary: £76,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have previous experience as a data or software engineer in a similar role.
• We have technical expertise in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and leveraging data services.
• We are proficient in DataOps methodologies and tools, including experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, containerisation, and workflow orchestration.
• We are familiar with ETL/ELT frameworks and experienced with Big Data Processing Tools such as Spark, Airflow, and Hive.
• We have knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, and SQL.
• We have hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL database design.
• We have a degree in STEM or a similar field; a masters is a plus.
• We have a data engineering certification, such as IBM Certified Data Engineer, which is a plus.
• We can demonstrate equivalent capability through professional experience or alternative qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• We orchestrate the ingestion, processing, and storage of raw data within structured and unstructured data repositories.
• We design, develop, deploy, and support data infrastructure, pipelines, and architecture.
• We implement reliable, scalable, and tested solutions to automate data ingestion.
• We develop systems to manage batch processing and real-time streaming of data.
• We evaluate business needs and objectives.
• We support implementation of data governance requirements.
• We facilitate pipelines that prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling.
• We work with domain teams to scale the processing of data.
• We identify opportunities for data acquisition.
• We combine raw information from different sources.
• We manage and maintain automated tools for data quality and reliability.
• We explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
• We collaborate with data scientists, IT, and architects on several projects.
