Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack React/Java

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Significant hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React.
• Backend experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS, and a preprocessor such as Sass.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Comfortable working in agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban).
• Able to solve complex design and functionality problems independently.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent), RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience designing and building applications with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience mentoring engineers and presenting technical work to stakeholders.
• Background in financial services or banking.
• AWS certification or equivalent cloud experience.

Responsibilities:

• Write, review, and debug secure production code across frontend and backend services.
• Design and build cloud-native, microservices-based applications with zero-downtime releases.
• Apply domain modeling to structure software for clarity, testability, and long-term maintainability.
• Identify recurring failure patterns and eliminate or automate their remediation.
• Lead communities of practice to share new techniques and raise engineering standards across the organization.
• Design for resilience, including no single points of failure, scalable patterns, and optimized data access.
• Contribute to a team culture where different perspectives improve the work.
• Work with stakeholders and clients to gather, challenge, and refine requirements before they become code.
