Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Proven solution architecture experience with deep technology knowledge and experience designing and implementing end-to-end solution architectures.
  • Experience delivering innovative solutions as part of digital transformation programmes, including cross-platform integration of emerging technology solutions with existing or new core platforms.
  • Experience working within an architectural design or technology delivery function in a leading firm within the insurance industry, consulting, InsurTech, or a leading firm outside Financial Services.
  • Experience or deep understanding in at least one insurance sector: Commercial Lines and/or Personal Lines, and the underlying insurance business processes across the value chain.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end insurance lifecycle and working knowledge of a typical end-to-end IT architecture, key systems, and key challenges for at least one insurance sector.
  • Demonstrated technology delivery experience, including understanding of all stages of the delivery lifecycle.
  • Knowledge or in-depth understanding of multiple key architectural domains, including data, integration, business, application, and operational architecture.
  • Proven knowledge of typical vendors in retail and/or commercial insurance, including emerging low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Understanding of the wider vendor landscape and experience of vendor assessment and selection as part of an RFI/RFP process.
  • Experience working with insurance vendors, third-party service providers, and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience leading assessment of IT landscapes, business drivers, and the impact of emerging technologies to define target and transition state architectures.
  • Experience defining technology strategy as part of architecture delivery engagements.
  • Experience providing technical design governance, solution quality assurance, and design reviews.
  • Experience leading teams or workstreams within a wider complex digital transformation programme.
  • Understanding and experience delivering through waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Experience owning or developing architectural artefacts such as high-level design documents, reference architectures, functional or technical design specifications, and integration designs.
  • Understanding of cloud capability and solutions, including application, business case, and benefits.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and proven ability to engage and manage a range of client and internal stakeholders, including senior client stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse and define solution options and broker buy-in, gather consensus, and drive decision making from business and IT stakeholders.
  • Aptitude and ambition to be a successful member of our consulting team working in digital transformation, application design and implementation, or process design and implementation.
  • Independent thinking, teamwork, excellent communication and presentation skills, and enthusiasm for driving change and impact in the insurance industry.
  • Technical mindset with the ability to analyse complex problems and deliver technical solutions.
  • Ability to work in new insurance fields and contribute to market-facing propositions, client engagements, and internal initiatives.
  • Desirable: familiarity with modern software delivery tooling such as Jira, Confluence, QA, and CI/CD tools.
  • Desirable: adaptability and ability to shift focus across different projects and subject matters.
  • Desirable: appreciation of emerging technology and trends in the insurance industry, such as cloud solutions, GenAI, underwriting workbenches, or emerging London Market platforms.
  • Desirable: certification or demonstrated knowledge of a major cloud service provider such as GCP, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Desirable: certification or demonstrated knowledge and delivery experience with core insurance applications such as Guidewire or Duck Creek.
  • Desirable: experience leveraging emerging technology within the insurance domain.
  • Desirable: background in software engineering or hands-on technology development and delivery.
  • Desirable: industry certifications such as BCS, Agile/Scrum, or SAFe.
  • Desirable: enterprise or solution architecture certification such as TOGAF or Zachman.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead delivery programmes by creating modern solution architectures and technical designs.
  • Collaborate with multi-capability teams, senior business stakeholders, and IT stakeholders.
  • Manage senior stakeholders and take accountability for the quality and timely delivery of team deliverables.
  • Support clients in creating or shaping technology strategies, roadmaps, and delivery programmes.
  • Ensure investment is made in the right technology and delivered in the right order.
  • Build effective client relationships with senior and peer-level stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Perform a tech lead role, guiding the client throughout the project or programme lifecycle.
  • Lead technology architecture engagements and oversee multiple technology workstreams.
  • Provide technical design governance, solution quality assurance, and design reviews.
  • Lead thought leadership and continuous capability development of the Solution Architecture practice.
  • Coach junior team members and lead the definition and implementation of Deloitte accelerators.
  • Lead and contribute to business development work, including pre-sales, bid preparation, and client presentations.
  • Lead definition for bids and proposals, including independent technology architecture engagements and large-scale technology transformations.
  • Help drive the growth of the Insurance practice and support a more diverse and inclusive culture.
