Requirements:
  • We require a bachelors degree and significant relevant experience; a masters or advanced degree and relevant experience is desired, in Computer Science, Software, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • We expect a strong understanding and demonstrated track record in software engineering fundamentals, including software architecture, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, event-driven design, multithreaded design, testing, and debugging.
  • We need a strong foundation in algorithms and numerical methods, with the ability to design, analyze, and optimize algorithms for accuracy and performance.
  • We require experience with Microsoft .NET languages including VB.NET and C#, C++ programming, Microsoft Visual Studio, and source code control systems such as Git.
  • We expect adherence to software design and coding standards.
  • We require the ability to communicate effectively with peers, interdisciplinary engineering groups, customers, and suppliers, including delivering clear technical presentations.
  • We value collaboration across teams in the US, Europe, and Asia.
  • We are looking for a self-driven individual with strong technical ability, a systematic approach, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred experience includes contributing to architecture and design for complex subsystems and influencing technical decisions through strong design and code reviews.
  • Preferred experience includes developing scientific, measurement, or signal/image-processing algorithms.
  • Preferred background includes applied mathematics, numerical methods, statistics, or scientific computing.
  • Preferred experience includes improving performance and diagnostics/observability for system-level software.
  • Preferred experience includes collaborating across teams on system integration and software releases for complex systems.
  • Preferred experience includes delivering AI/ML capabilities in products.
  • Preferred UX skills include wireframing, prototyping, and user flow design.
Responsibilities:
  • We define the software architecture and design the core measurement, data-analysis, and signal/image-processing algorithms that power our surface profiler, thin film, sheet resistance, and nanoindentation instruments.
  • We deliver well-defined features and components with high-level guidance, including estimating work, communicating risks and tradeoffs, and delivering on schedule.
  • We own and evolve the software architecture across the development lifecycle by defining system- and subsystem-level requirements, interfaces, and specifications, and by guiding key design decisions.
  • We design, implement, and optimize core algorithms for measurement, data analysis, and signal/image processing, including numerical methods and high-performance multithreaded code.
  • We develop C#/.NET and C++ software for data analysis and algorithm implementation, and we write maintainable, well-structured code while using AI-assisted tools responsibly under company security policies.
  • We evaluate and compare algorithmic approaches through prototyping, benchmarking, and analysis of accuracy, precision, and computational complexity.
  • We build robust unit and integration tests and use profiling to improve algorithm performance, accuracy, memory usage, reliability, and security.
  • We participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • We troubleshoot system and subsystem issues using logs and experiments, contribute to root-cause analysis, implement fixes with guidance, and help prevent recurrence.
  • We independently learn and apply new software technologies.
  • We may travel occasionally to KLA headquarters, customer sites, or other business locations, with travel expected to be less than 10% of working time.
