Senior Machine Learning Scientist

Salary: £30,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have excellent SQL and Python skills, with a good understanding of software engineering and data engineering best practices.
• We have in-depth knowledge of statistical and machine learning models, including gradient boosted trees, logistic regression, neural networks, and survival analysis.
• We have solid knowledge of statistics, including hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and bootstrap methods.
• We have experience with end-to-end model development and maintenance of machine learning models used for business-critical automated decisioning in a consumer-facing industry.
• We have great attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind.
• We have excellent communication skills and can articulate complex problems clearly.
• We can build mutual respect and trust with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

• We improve customer and business outcomes through better automated decisioning using machine learning and statistical modelling.
• We focus on credit risk modelling and apply our expertise to predict and optimise utilisation, pricing, collections, and marketing.
• We own multiple machine learning applications end to end, from experiment design and data curation through to deployment and monitoring.
• We innovate in data, methodologies, and tooling to build better models more easily and quickly.
• We work across all borrowing products and applications and choose the most impactful topics to deliver.
• We collaborate closely with Credit Strategy Managers, Model Validation Analysts, Backend Engineers, and Product Managers to align model development with the product roadmap.
• We contribute beyond modelling by helping shape product and credit strategy.
