Job Description
Salary: £30,000 - 60,000 per year
Requirements:- We require a Masters or PhD in Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- We require 5+ years of experience developing systematic, intraday horizon trading strategies, predictive models, and alpha signals.
- We require a proven track record of generating profitable, orthogonal signals in production.
- We require experience managing, mentoring, or leading researchers.
- We require strong practical machine learning experience, including a clear understanding of overfitting and robust validation.
- We require strong Python skills.
- We lead the research, development, and deployment of alpha signals and predictive models.
- We manage and grow a core part of our European alpha research team.
- We help define and prioritise our alpha research agenda.
- We deliver measurable improvements to production trading performance.
- We set standards for research methodology, validation, and reproducibility.
- We drive the development of scalable research tools and modelling frameworks.

We are working with the European Systematic Equities team of a leading global proprietary trading firm in Central London to hire a Lead Alpha Researcher. This is a permanent, onsite role with strong bonus potential of over 100% of base. The position offers the opportunity to lead a senior, hands-on research function, shape research standards, and contribute to the scaling of alpha generation, predictive modelling, and machine learning capabilities across the business. We also have roles of varying seniority across a wide range of asset classes at leading hedge funds, prop trading firms, and investment banks.
