Cyber Security Specialist

Salary: £56,000 - 96,000 per year

Requirements:

• Hands-on delivery experience with security technologies, working closely with business and operational stakeholders to drive value from them
• Broad understanding of IT and security technologies, the data they produce, and how to turn that data into asset insight and intelligence
• Demonstrable ability to ramp up quickly on unfamiliar products
• Strong hands-on experience across several of the following: endpoint management (for example Intune), network security and management (for example Cisco, Fortigate, Forescout, SolarWinds), cloud and cloud security platforms (for example Azure, AWS, GCP, Wiz), identity platforms (for example Entra, Okta), vulnerability management tooling (for example Rapid7, Qualys), EDR (for example Defender, CrowdStrike), and SIEM (for example Sentinel, Splunk)
• Comfort working in a Microsoft-heavy environment, particularly the Defender stack across endpoint, cloud, and identity
• Enough cloud infrastructure literacy to understand how design decisions affect what is possible with the data
• Ability to translate technical detail for senior and non-technical stakeholders and deliver business value
• Direct experience with Axonius in a delivery capacity is ideal, or experience with a comparable cyber asset attack surface management or asset intelligence platform
• Background in deep technical build work such as standing up vulnerability management programmes, telemetry pipelines, or SecOps tooling from the ground up
• Architecture-level experience is highly desirable

Responsibilities:

• Own the translation of asset data into asset intelligence and business value
• Deliver a high-confidence, categorised enterprise asset inventory
• Build a formalised confidence and visibility classification model
• Create visibility metrics and security control coverage dashboards, initially focused on EDR
• Implement Risk-Based Vulnerability Management integrated with remediation workflows
• Identify and govern Shadow IT risk in a structured way
• Perform CMDB gap analysis and controlled ServiceNow synchronisation
• Enrich assets to feed the SecOps platform and strengthen investigations
• Interrogate data in Axonius, work with user groups and vendors, and improve confidence and effectiveness of the data
• Analyse high-confidence data to identify trends and insights, then translate them into cyber security and business intelligence dashboards
• Own the creation of queries, tags, and dashboards that support live business requirements
• Act as product SME and first-line service support for service consumers building and using their own queries and dashboards
• Liaise with service consumers and business owners to understand evolving requirements for cyber and business insight
• Support the design and build of additional dashboards, queries, and reports
• Liaise with architecture, engineering, and the vendor to stay ahead of product roadmap and feature development
• Build, maintain, and report on service assurance and metrics

We are supporting a growing cyber security consultancy hiring a Cyber Asset Intelligence Consultant to take ownership of the asset data layer and turn it into intelligence the business can act on. This is a delivery role inside a large, complex, Microsoft-centric estate, with the platform already in place and a need to make the data trustworthy and useful through queries, tags, and dashboards that show stakeholders what they own, how well it is covered, and where the risk sits. The role is remote in the United Kingdom, offered at a day rate of £500 outside IR35, and is initially for 6 months with scope to extend. The work is highly client-facing, with roughly four days hands-on delivery and one day of stakeholder engagement each week, suited to someone who can run their own engagements and act as a trusted advisor to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
