Senior Systems Engineer - Secure Digital Platform

Salary: £148,742.4 - 148,742.4 per year

Requirements:

• Active SC Clearance is required for this role.
• Experience within defence, aerospace, MOD, government, or other secure environments.
• Experience supporting Windows Server and/or Linux platforms.
• Understanding of cloud technologies, ideally Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Exposure to VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container technologies.
• Interest in automation, DevOps practices, and modern platform engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Support secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Assist with Microsoft Azure administration and cloud platform operations.
• Maintain Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Support virtualisation platforms and enterprise hosting solutions.
• Work with Kubernetes and OpenShift container platforms.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and resilience.
• Support incident management, troubleshooting, and service improvements.
• Contribute to automation and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell.
• Support secure infrastructure changes, documentation, and operational processes.

We are supporting a defence client on the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), a landmark international defence initiative developing the future combat air system. This is a 12-month contract based in Reading with a hybrid working arrangement of three days per week on site.
