Job Description

Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for a degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • We are looking for 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • We are looking for strong backend experience with Java.
  • We are looking for understanding of AWS and DevOps concepts such as IaC; we use Terraform.
  • We are looking for some experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS/SQS or Kafka.
  • We are looking for a good grasp of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency.
  • We are looking for understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
  • We are looking for appreciation of orchestration and containerisation, ideally Kubernetes (K8s).
  • We are looking for experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies.
  • We are looking for experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC.
  • We are looking for familiarity working in an Agile environment.
  • We are looking for passion for working within a fast-paced environment and the ability to adapt to change.
Responsibilities:
  • We build and optimize high-performance microservices that power our marketing ecosystem.
  • We work on systems enabling real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.
  • We design highly scalable, event-driven systems that process large volumes of real-time data and deliver intelligent insights to marketing partners.
  • We help enable data-driven, personalized experiences for millions of customers across our platform.
  • We work within a modern microservices and event-driven architecture, building Martech solutions enhanced by AI to drive customer engagement and retention.
  • We make existing systems simpler by consolidating redundant systems, deleting unnecessary code, and removing or updating out-of-date documentation.
  • We solve well-defined problems independently, knowing when to seek input or guidance from the wider team.
  • We translate technical designs into clean, well-tested code using appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices, delivered on schedule.
  • We write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects.
  • We contribute to team discussion on technical design, scoping, and prioritisation.
  • We collaborate effectively across the team, surfacing risks and opportunities that arise from technical decisions.
  • We propose pragmatic solutions and share knowledge and learnings with the wider team.
  • We own parts of product and technology and strive to become a subject matter expert.
  • We write simple and extendable code following standards and best practices.
  • We actively participate in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and support ticket reviews.
  • We clearly document our software so that future generations of developers understand the intention behind the features and components we build.
  • We troubleshoot problems and identify swift resolutions.
  • We provide excellent customer support.
  • We estimate stories and tasks and deliver them on time.
  • We participate in the on-call support rotation for our organization.
