Senior System Architect – Platform Interface

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• You have a degree in Engineering or a related subject.
• You are a full member of an appropriate engineering institution and a Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards chartership.
• You have extensive experience in maritime systems integration and system-of-systems architecture.
• You have strong knowledge of platform automation, control systems and digital engineering.
• You must achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard as a minimum. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting, typically requiring 5 to 10 years of continuous UK residency, depending on the vetting level.
• Security and export control restrictions may affect eligibility based on factors including nationality, previously held nationalities and place of birth.

Responsibilities:

• Lead platform interface architecture and integration strategy.
• Define standards, interfaces and system integration principles.
• Resolve complex cross-domain integration and interoperability challenges.
• Embed cyber resilience, safety and assurance into architectural solutions.
• Support digital ship technologies, automation and control systems.
• Influence stakeholders on platform integration strategy and delivery.
• Provide technical leadership for integrating platform, mission and support systems across future naval platforms.
• Define platform-agnostic architectures enabling interaction between propulsion, power, control, combat and auxiliary systems, and offboard monitoring.
• Ensure solutions in complex system-of-systems environments are safe, resilient, interoperable and aligned with Hybrid Navy strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and engineering teams across BAE Systems and the wider defence enterprise to shape strategic direction and deliver platform integration solutions.

We are recruiting a Senior System Architect – Platform Interface for BAE Systems Naval Ships Combat Systems business. The role is based in Portsmouth (Broad Oak), Filton or Dorchester, with hybrid working requiring three days on site, routine travel to other southern BAE sites in the UK and occasional international travel. The salary is up to £89,520, depending on experience. You will join a skilled team of system architects working on domestic and international programmes to shape future maritime mission systems and deliver innovative, operationally relevant solutions.
