Senior Server Administrator
Job Description
Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year
Requirements:- We require a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or another relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- We require demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
- We require the ability to author and implement basic scripting and coding to automate technical tasks such as moving files, backups, configuration, or similar work.
- We require demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively.
- We require strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting.
- We require consistent quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organisation.
- We lead the administration of technology by researching new technologies and proposing cost-effective solutions.
- We design and develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or improve the performance of our Windows server computing systems.
- We support Windows Azure Local Hypervisor deployment and troubleshooting.
- We perform cost analyses and vendor comparisons for projects of all sizes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- We assess feasibility of different approaches and make recommendations.
- We provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a shared rota.
- We continuously develop expertise in server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems, as well as other server-based technologies.
- We communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes.
- We adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as required.
- We manage capacity, redundancy, and health constraints across server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems.
- We ensure security requirements are met or exceeded.
- We contribute to the team roadmap and priorities.
- We develop reliable solutions to complex problems using ingenuity and creativity.
- We demonstrate a broad understanding of our business model across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Marketing.
- We mentor and guide less experienced IT Administrators.
- We lead major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines.
- We provide innovation within our area of expertise.
- We facilitate team discussions and meetings.
- We act as an expert in our assigned discipline and apply extensive technical expertise to initiatives.
- We contribute input to broader technology solutions outside our discipline.
- We lead change, give and receive constructive feedback professionally, and address conflict effectively.

We are Garmin, offering a Senior Server Administrator opportunity in Southampton on an office-based 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a 40-hour-per-week role, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, with a salary of £50,000 to £60,000 per annum depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as we do not offer sponsorship. In this role, you will join a collaborative team and contribute as a technical expert, mentor, and leader of change across our server environment and wider technology initiatives.
