Scala Engineer / Developer

Salary: £127,920 - 127,920 per year

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience developing applications using Play Framework
• Strong knowledge of unit testing and integration testing
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures
• BPSS clearance required
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure is desirable
• Understanding of application security principles is desirable
• Experience with CI/CD, TDD, pair programming, and DevOps practices and tooling is desirable

• Develop and enhance Scala Play microservices
• Deliver high-quality code within Agile delivery teams
• Work closely with researchers, designers, and technical specialists
• Support services throughout the full development lifecycle
• Participate in testing, deployment, and monitoring activities

We are hiring for a Scala Engineer / Developer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme supporting the UK governments Making Tax Digital initiative. Based in Telford with 2 days per week onsite, this is a 6-month PAYE inside IR35 contract at £490 per day. You will work in a mature Agile environment alongside multidisciplinary teams to build modern, user-centric digital services using cloud-native technologies and high-performance microservices.
