SAP Finance Systems Manager

Salary: £70,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for proven experience as a Product Owner within SAP environments.
• We need strong technical and functional expertise in SAP S/4HANA.
• We need strong technical and functional expertise in SAP BW.
• We need strong technical and functional expertise in SAP BPC and/or SAC planning models.
• We need experience working across finance processes and SAP integration points.
• We need a strong track record of delivering SAP system enhancements, upgrades, and transformation programmes.
• We need experience supporting or contributing to BPC to SAC transitions.
• We need strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across complex organisational structures.
• We need experience working in Agile / Scrum environments, managing backlogs and delivering iteratively.
• We need the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• We need comfort operating in ambiguous, evolving environments.
• We need strong leadership capability, with experience coaching and developing teams.
• Experience within Higher Education or Public Sector environments would be desirable.
• Awareness of SAP cloud strategy, including Public vs Private Cloud, would be desirable.
• Understanding of finance process standardisation and system-driven controls would be desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We own the full product lifecycle for SAP Finance systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, controlled, and aligned to business priorities.
• We lead and develop a team responsible for finance systems stability, optimisation, and continuous improvement.
• We drive prioritisation and delivery of system enhancements, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
• We manage and refine the product backlog, developing user stories and acceptance criteria using Agile methodologies.
• We work collaboratively with stakeholders to translate business needs into structured system solutions.
• We lead UAT, release management, and training, ensuring successful adoption and ongoing support.
• We act as a change agent, promoting a test-and-learn approach and supporting business transformation.
• We collaborate with Digital Services on architecture, SAP S/4HANA, and cloud strategy decisions.
• We drive process standardisation, reducing manual workarounds and improving efficiency.
• We act as an escalation point for system priorities, integration challenges, and conflicting requirements.

The role sits at the heart of a significant investment in finance systems, focused on delivering scalable, standardised, and high-performing SAP Finance solutions. You will operate in a player-coach leadership role, working closely with Digital Services and business stakeholders to support modern financial processes, reduce reliance on bespoke solutions, and promote data-driven decision-making.
