Principal Solutions Architect, EMEA

Salary: £49,000 - 89,000 per year

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant experience in Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, technical presales, or enterprise infrastructure architecture.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, strategically important enterprise customer engagements.
• Strong technical background across data center infrastructure, networking, interconnection, and hybrid/multicloud architecture.
• Experience developing architectures across multiple technology domains, locations, providers, and partner capabilities.
• Proven ability to lead regional or global technical engagements and distributed teams, and to influence senior technical and executive stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of complex solution selling and the relationship between technical strategy and commercial outcomes.
• Financial Services & Insurance industry experience is strongly desirable; familiarity with our portfolio and global platform is advantageous.
• Exceptional strategic architecture, technical problem-solving, and technical storytelling skills, with strong presentation and written communication abilities.
• Ability to create complex global architectures, simplify technical concepts, connect them to customer outcomes, and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Strong collaboration, stakeholder management, execution, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing skills.
• Customer-focused, innovation-oriented, continuous-learning mindset, with a record of shaping architecture engagements that influence significant customer and sales outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end technical strategy for complex strategic customers and opportunities, leading discovery, qualification, architecture development, and technical win strategy.
• Develop global, highly customized architectures that combine our capabilities, customer environments, and partner ecosystems; align solutions with customers long-term strategies and transformation plans.
• Lead major engagements across services, technologies, regions, and stakeholders, and deliver customer architectures, design recommendations, and technical documentation.
• Position the value of Platform Equinix, including data center, interconnection, digital services, Equinix Fabric, and relevant managed services.
• Develop architectures for networking, hybrid and multicloud, data adjacency, and infrastructure modernization; translate technical capabilities into customer and business outcomes.
• Use partner and industry ecosystems to extend customer solutions and unlock additional value.
• Advise senior customer stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, and leaders in architecture, infrastructure, networking, and cloud; influence customer architecture decisions and technology roadmaps.
• Lead architecture workshops and executive-level technical discussions, providing objective advice on options, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs.
• Connect immediate infrastructure decisions with customers longer-term strategic objectives and shape multi-year strategies.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional and global technical teams, including technical tiger teams, across Equinix, customer, and partner organizations.
• Provide leadership when requirements are ambiguous or no established solution pattern exists.
• Mentor Solutions Engineers and Architects and develop technical best practices and reusable architecture patterns.
• Apply knowledge of the EMEA Financial Services & Insurance technology landscape to customer engagements and identify repeatable industry use cases.
• Capture emerging customer requirements, architecture trends, and capability gaps; share strategic feedback with Product and Engineering teams to influence future capabilities and services.
• Contribute thought leadership and knowledge across our Solutions Engineering organization, and influence our strategy and capabilities through insights from strategic customer engagements.
• Contribute to sell-to bookings and quota attainment through technical leadership of strategic opportunities.
