Principal Software Engineer

Salary: £90,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 10+ years of experience, at principal or staff grade equivalent.
• We require expert-level Java 17 or 21 experience, including modern language features.
• We require deep Spring Boot experience, including security, transaction management, and async/reactive patterns.
• We require experience designing microservices architecture from scratch.
• We require production experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• We require hands-on AWS experience, including EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and EventBridge.
• We require ownership of CI/CD pipelines.
• We require a strong automated testing discipline, including JUnit, Mockito, integration testing, and TDD or BDD.
• We require frontend leadership experience in React, specifically leading React work itself.
• We require understanding and implementation of FFE/BFE separation, including presentation, client state, server-side UI tier, session and auth handling, SSR, and API route composition.
• We require architecture ownership across multiple systems.
• We require cross-team technical leadership.
• We require a track record of influencing engineering standards, technology choices, or hiring.
• We require evidence of growing other engineers.
• We require UK SC security clearance eligibility.
• We require candidates to be a UK national with 5 continuous years of UK residency.
• We require candidates not to need sponsorship, now or in the future, for UK permanent employment status.
• If using a work visa, it must allow unrestricted work in the UK for at least the next 5 years.

• We will expect you to occasionally travel to London for client work, approximately once a month, with expenses paid.
• We will expect you to go through UK SC Security Clearance if required.
