Lead Platform Engineer - AWS

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical design to technical and non-technical audiences in conversation, documentation, and presentation.
• Proven experience in team leadership and supporting a DevOps culture in delivering and/or supporting complex projects.
• SC Clearance is required.
• Significant expertise in designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, operating, and improving the reliability of modern digital service platforms in production environments.
• Experience using continuous delivery and automation techniques to release operationally ready software to production, including platform orchestration through multiple configuration management tools.
• Demonstrable experience building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms, including architecture, design, estimation, planning, and iteration on MVP using a modern agile approach.
• Experience championing best-practice use of Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques, and processes to manage and improve existing platform services, including monitoring, platform modernisation, and cost optimisation.
• Experience using AWS, including SaaS or PaaS offerings, to solve business problems.
• Desirable: certification with a public cloud provider such as AWS.
• Desirable: certification in a specialist area such as Kubernetes CKAD.

Responsibilities:

• Lead teams to design, automate, build, manage, and optimise modern digital service platforms.
• Work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security to build, test, and deploy software of the highest quality, including the operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services.
• Ensure the latest technologies are used appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit.
• Share knowledge internally through communities of practice and more widely in the industry.
• Support colleagues and foster a DevOps culture by embodying our values and acting as a role model.
• Provide technical leadership and direction as the team solves challenging delivery and support problems.
• Manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, with a focus on employee performance and career development.
• Interact with customers, share knowledge, and mentor those around you.
• Make sound, reasoned decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Push the boundaries through exposure to technology and the development of specialisms.
