Requirements:

• Strong core Java programming skills and strong hands-on Object-Oriented Design skills
• Strong systems development experience across the full software delivery lifecycle, including design, development, testing, live implementation, and post-implementation support
• Experience developing services/microservices in Java
• Hands-on Spring Boot skills
• Experience developing and deploying on Unix or Linux
• Hands-on experience with the Kafka ecosystem
• Experience with containerised services using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience in profiling and performance tuning
• Experience with Behaviour-Driven Development and Test-Driven Development principles and skills
• Experience with public cloud development
• Demonstrable solutions design and development skills
• Ability to motivate and coach others, work collaboratively, and act as a role model in peer reviews
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently without close supervision
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deliver work within agreed timescales and identify and resolve problems effectively
• Experience working in an Agile development team is desirable
• Experience designing and implementing platform-independent, database-independent event-driven applications is desirable
• Database design experience in technologies such as Oracle is desirable
• Experience with Splunk is desirable
• Knowledge of DevOps principles, processes, and tooling is desirable
• Experience with IBM MQ is desirable
• Knowledge of messaging standards such as ISO 15022, ISO 20022, and JSON is desirable
• Experience working in Financial Market Infrastructure and/or regulated environments is desirable

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an Agile development team to deliver the migration of a legacy application to a new event-based and service-oriented architecture
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect, Technical Lead, Application Architects, and other stakeholders
• Lead delivery of a coherent end-to-end IT solution that meets functional and non-functional requirements
• Ensure the IT solution complies with enterprise engineering and architecture standards
• Ensure end-to-end consistency of solution delivery across platforms and teams by organising walkthroughs with delivery teams
• Ensure the solution meets guidelines and standards for design and development
• Undertake hands-on development in the new technologies used
• Support and coach more junior colleagues

We are a banking client based in London, offering a 12-month contract for a Lead Java Developer working on a hybrid basis with 8 days per month onsite in our London office. This is an inside IR35 role with a daily rate of €600 to €800, depending on experience and client requirements. The role is focused on server-side development and the migration of a legacy application to a modern event-based and service-oriented architecture, within a collaborative Agile environment.
