Data Architect

Salary: £130,446 - 130,446 per year

Requirements:

• Strong practical data architecture experience
• Experience with modern cloud data platform architecture
• Experience with Snowflake and Oracle, or comparable OLAP and OLTP technologies
• Advanced SQL and strong ELT and data transformation knowledge
• Experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architecture
• Experience with batch, event-driven and analytical data patterns
• Experience with APIs, integration and orchestration
• Experience with logical, physical and semantic data design
• Experience with metadata, catalogue and lineage implementation
• Experience with data security, privacy and access control patterns
• Awareness of DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
• Strong understanding of performance, scalability and cost optimisation

Responsibilities:

• Join our major data transformation programme in Edinburgh as a Data Architect
• Translate wider architecture principles into practical, buildable solutions across data ingestion, processing, storage, integration and consumption
• Work closely with data engineers, platform engineers, software engineers, modellers and governance teams
• Define technical patterns and guardrails that engineering teams will build against
• Define reusable architecture patterns across pipelines, platforms, APIs, events and analytical services
• Ensure security, data quality, observability, resilience and operational support are designed in from the outset

We are offering an initial 6-month contract role, inside IR35, paying £525 to £600 per day. The role is hybrid in Edinburgh, with a minimum of two days per week in the office and no fixed anchor days. We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a major data transformation programme, working at the heart of our technical data architecture.
