Automation QA Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have 4+ years of commercial experience with Playwright.
• We have strong experience developing automated tests within a large-scale or enterprise-level framework.
• We have a strong understanding and practical application of the Page Object Model.
• We have strong manual testing experience, including functional and exploratory testing.
• We have strong proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally TypeScript or JavaScript.
• We have a good understanding of software testing methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
• We have experience testing REST APIs and related concepts.
• We have practical experience creating automated API tests using Postman or similar tools.
• We have experience working within structured software development and QA environments.
• We are able to establish and follow robust automation coding standards and best practices.
• We are comfortable mentoring and supporting less experienced colleagues.
• Experience with non-functional testing, including performance or load testing, is desirable.
• Familiarity with relevant performance testing tools and industry best practices is desirable.
• Experience working within or supporting CI/CD environments is desirable.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding and testing tools is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright.
• We build and enhance scalable test automation frameworks using a Page Object Model approach.
• We perform manual, functional, regression and exploratory testing.
• We develop automated API tests using REST APIs, Postman or similar tools.
• We work closely with developers, QA colleagues and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• We contribute to the definition and implementation of QA coding standards, processes and best practices.
• We support the continued integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• We identify opportunities to improve test coverage, efficiency and overall quality processes.
• We investigate, document and communicate defects effectively.
• We mentor and support less experienced QA team members.
• We contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider QA function.
• We utilise modern AI coding and testing tools, such as Claude, to improve productivity and testing effectiveness.
