Requirements:

• Strong Linux engineering skills, including configuration, troubleshooting, system-level diagnostics, and operational support.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and the challenges of changing, testing, and operating them safely.
• Strong Python development skills and the ability to write robust, maintainable, production-quality code.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and release automation.
• Experience with automated and manual testing approaches.
• Ability to create practical test plans, validation procedures, and rollout plans for complex technical changes.
• Experience with large-scale production environments and an understanding of operational risk.
• Understanding of security principles, vulnerability remediation, secure coding, and system hardening.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, infrastructure services, automation, networking, and application integration points.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive complex problems through to resolution.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risks, options, and recommendations clearly.
• Experience with Perl in addition to Python is desirable.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible, SaltStack, or similar is desirable.
• Experience with VMware ESXi, virtualisation platforms, or private cloud infrastructure is desirable.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security scanning tools, remediation workflows, and audit/compliance requirements is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Remediate identified security vulnerabilities across multiple infrastructure and automation codebases.
• Design, implement, and validate secure, stable, and maintainable code changes.
• Integrate vendor, open-source, and internally developed solutions into our infrastructure platform.
• Develop and maintain automation using Python and related tooling.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated test coverage, and release validation processes.
• Create test plans and validation procedures for security-related code and configuration changes.
• Test complex changes in lab and pre-production environments before production rollout.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, security, and application teams to assess impact and drive remediation to completion.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, documentation, and technical planning.
• Contribute to improvements in platform reliability, security posture, and engineering practices.

We are recruiting a Senior Infrastructure Integration Engineer for our platform engineering team within the Infrastructure-as-a-Service Engineering group in the Core Infrastructure division. Our group designs, implements, integrates, and maintains large-scale global physical and virtual server infrastructure, and supports our DevOps transformation through real-time APIs, automation, and infrastructure-as-code integrations. The role focuses on integrating, testing, securing, and improving infrastructure codebases, with an emphasis on vulnerability remediation, code hardening, automated validation, and safe production rollout. We are looking for a self-starter who can assess the wider impact of security changes in complex distributed systems and deliver stable, maintainable, secure code. The position is based in Glasgow and requires on-site work three days per week; candidates near the location are highly desirable. The rate is £552 per day inside the scope of IR35.
