Salary: £53,000 - 93,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience managing testing risks, dependencies and quality reporting.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum and DevOps delivery models.
• Experience with Azure DevOps (TFS), SQL and test automation frameworks.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
• Knowledge of modern application architectures, including cloud-native and microservices-based solutions.
• ISTQB Foundation Certification is mandatory.
• ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, Test Analyst or equivalent certification is preferred; Agile certification is beneficial.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for quality, strong communication and influencing skills, and a collaborative, pragmatic approach.
• Ability to balance governance with delivery agility; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Comfortable working across geographically dispersed teams.

Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain the Tribe Test Strategy, aligning it with enterprise standards and quality objectives.
• Define and promote best practices for functional, non-functional and automation testing across the Tribe.
• Drive continuous improvement in testing effectiveness, efficiency and predictability, including the evolution of Agile engineering test practices and the use of AI in testing.
• Act as the quality authority for Tribe-level initiatives, Epics and Releases, and ensure compliance with testing controls, standards and governance requirements.
• Produce Epic Release and Test Strategies, including approach, plans and estimates.
• Support Feature Test Owners and Test Engineers in creating high-level test strategies, approaches and plans.
• Facilitate cross-squad and cross-tribe testing where shared functionality or dependencies exist.
• Coordinate end-to-end testing to ensure coverage across business processes and systems.
• Ensure test data, environments and tools are identified and available in line with delivery timelines.
• Guide testing estimates, scope and risk assessments.
• Define and coordinate performance, volume, resilience, recovery, security and operational readiness testing.
• Ensure non-functional testing is completed and reported, and work with infrastructure and architecture teams to validate platform readiness.
• Orchestrate release regression and exploratory testing across participating squads.
• Support Release Acceptance Testing with the Tribe Release Engineer and ensure quality gates are defined and followed.
• Review entry and exit criteria for major testing phases and provide quality assessments and recommendations for Go/No-Go decisions.
• Report testing progress, risks, issues, defects and quality metrics; present strategies and updates to senior stakeholders.
• Escalate risks, defects and delivery concerns appropriately and build partnerships across business and technology teams.
• Coach and mentor Test Engineers, Feature Test Owners and squad members; promote a Quality Engineering mindset and adoption of automation, shift-left and continuous testing practices.
• Support the development of T-shaped engineering capabilities across squads.

We are seeking a forward-thinking, experienced Tribe Test Engineer to provide transversal technical and strategic quality leadership within our Tribe. The role sits within our Release & Test Orchestration function and works in partnership with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Tribe Release Engineers, Test Engineers, Automation Engineers, Developers, Architects and business stakeholders. Our aim is to embed quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle while enabling squads to deliver high-quality solutions at pace. Success is measured through delivery quality, fewer production defects and incidents, predictable testing, successful release acceptance and regression testing, adoption of automation and quality engineering practices, stakeholder satisfaction, and continuous improvement of testing processes and standards.
