Senior Backend Engineer – Node.js + AWS

Salary: £45,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript best practices, plus experience with at least one other server-side language
• Strong SQL skills, particularly with PostgreSQL, including query optimization, data migrations, and database modeling
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns, with experience building and extending classes
• Experience designing scalable systems and optimizing them for high transaction volumes, concurrency, idempotency, and performance under load
• Skill in building secure, scalable APIs, including input validation, JWT tokens, and queue-based systems
• At least 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Experience designing, coding, testing, and maintaining applications
• Experience working successfully with distributed teams; strong proactive communication and asynchronous collaboration skills
• Ability to take ownership while working effectively with a team
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Optimistic, customer-focused problem-solving approach and a business-focused mindset
• SaaS experience, experience with 24/7 products on major cloud vendors, serverless architecture experience on AWS, and FinTech knowledge are advantageous

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, designers, and QA professionals to create seamless experiences
• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from discovery and planning through deployment
• Develop robust features and APIs, improve our products, and identify and fix bugs
• Apply quality engineering and customer-focused development to deliver excellent products and services
