Job Description

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Excellent technical and client-facing skills.
  • Experience designing, building and deploying SOC technology, including at least two of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, vulnerability management and threat intelligence.
  • Good understanding of industry best practice across SOC services, people, policy, processes, technology and physical infrastructure.
  • Understanding of common threats and mitigation techniques.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of on-premises architectures and design, and cloud security architectures and design.
  • Understanding of security best practices, including least privilege and encryption, and of designing scalable and resilient architectures.
  • Ability to define or understand unfamiliar requirements and research and test potential solutions.
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman, and with modelling.
  • Good knowledge and experience of common enterprise ICT services.
  • Experience working with government systems and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working across delivery styles such as agile, lean, iterative or incremental, and waterfall.
  • Minimum SC security clearance required; DV clearance is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Engage with client stakeholders to understand or define security requirements, including accreditation requirements.
  • Conceptualise and architect SOC solutions across services, people, policy, processes, technology and physical infrastructure.
  • Develop or contribute to concepts of operations and high-level, low-level and deployment-level designs.
  • Advise on SOC design, deploy and configure new solutions, and assess existing deployments and client capabilities to identify improvements and increase maturity.
  • Support the design of security tools, including Splunk and Sentinel SIEM, Nessus vulnerability management, Microsoft XDR and other appropriate tools.
  • Draw on our experience, intellectual property and expertise, with support from product and subject-matter experts, to deliver secure solutions.
  • Architect SOC solutions to meet customer requirements through conceptualisation, architecture, design, build, deployment and operation.

As Lead SOC Architect, you will join our Defence business unit and help design and build a dedicated Security Operations Centre for the cyber defence of a major international defence programme. The environment includes Microsoft cloud services and on-premises data centres across multiple regions and classification levels. The role is based in Guildford or Frimley, UK, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements available; colleagues may work from home, our offices or client sites.
