Golang Engineer II

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Commercial backend software engineering experience
• Experience with Golang; the job title specifies Golang language only
• Experience developing backend microservices and REST APIs
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or comparable asynchronous messaging technologies
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
• Experience with Git-based version control
• Experience delivering work in an Agile or Scrum environment
• Ability to attend our Burgess Hill office three days per week
• Skills in backend engineering, CI/CD, Git, Agile, Kafka, SQL, Docker, and gRPC

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and microservices
• Build REST APIs and service integrations
• Develop services using Golang
• Implement asynchronous communication using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent messaging technologies
• Write and maintain automated unit, component, functional, integration, and regression tests
• Support software through continuous integration and deployment pipelines
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions
• Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, and other delivery team members
• Support applications through development, testing, deployment, and production

We are seeking a Golang Engineer II on a contract basis to join our Global Loyalty & Benefits Platform team at a leading global financial company. You will work in a Scrum-based engineering team developing backend services, business functionality, and customer journeys, with exposure to enterprise-scale customer-facing systems in a regulated financial-services environment, high-volume customer journeys, and transactional services. We offer a collaborative Agile environment and modern backend engineering work involving microservices, APIs, asynchronous messaging, and CI/CD. The role is based in Burgess Hill, UK, with three days per week in the office.
