Network Engineering Lead

Salary: £41,000 - 81,000 per year

• Candidates should have experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to deliver operational services, projects, infrastructure changes or programmes, or technology-enabled initiatives, and to develop operational plans.

Responsibilities:

• We expect our Network Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for our campus, wireless, remote access, data centre, and network security services.
• We need the lead to ensure our network services remain secure, resilient, and able to support the evolving needs of staff, students, and researchers.
• We expect the lead to help shape the future of our network services and challenge existing approaches, identify improvement opportunities, and drive change through technology, people, and processes.
• We need the lead to develop a high-performing team, balance competing priorities, and continually improve services.
• We expect the lead to help transform our network estate by strengthening security, improving operational maturity and engineering capabilities, and modernising network architecture.
• We need the lead to drive improvements in network segmentation, resilience, service standardisation, and automation, aligning services with our Technology Strategy and institutional priorities.
• We expect significant on-site presence and collaboration with stakeholders across the School.

This Network Engineering Lead role reports to the Head of Engineering and offers a salary of £53,949–£62,160 per annum inclusive, with potential progression to £69,073 inclusive of London allowance.
